I am an an associate professor at the Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies at Kyoto University in Japan. My research mainly focuses on decarbonisation and energy policy and the governance of energy and sustainability transitions. I am currently investigating topics such as fossil-fuel phase-outs, company decarbonisation behaviour, next-generation mobility (electric, fuel-cell and autonomous vehicles) and smart cities. I obtained my Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo in 2014 and have worked for two and a half years at Clark University in the USA as an assistant professor and four years at Tohoku University. I currently serve on the editorial board for Energy Research & Social Science and as an editor for Frontiers in Sustainable Cities and have published over 45 peer reviewed papers in journals such as Energy Policy, Energy Research and Social Science, PLOS One, Climatic Change, Global Environmental Change, Journal of Cleaner Production, and Technological Forecasting and Social Change. My research and opinion about energy and decarbonisation issues has appeared in media outlets such as The Guardian, New York Times, Nikkei Asia, Channel NewsAsia (CNA), ABC Australia and Carbon Brief.

私は、京都大学大学院地球環境学堂で准教授として勤務しております。主に社会科学の観点よりエネルギー政策およびエネルギー・サステイナビリティ転換のガバナンス（舵取り）に関する研究を行っており、現在では、水素（燃料電池自動車を含む）、脱石炭、再生可能エネルギー、スマートシティ等、日本にとって重要性が高い研究課題に取り組んでいます。2014年に東京大学大学院新領域創成科学研究科で博士の学位を取得し、その後、助教として2年半アメリカのクラーク大学、准教授として4年間東北大学で勤務した経験があります。国際学術ジャーナルで30本以上の査読付きの研究論文と本の一章を発表している実績があり、現在、学術ジャーナル『Energy Research & Social Science』『Frontiers in Sustainable Cities』の編集者を努めています。エネルギー政策や脱炭素化に関する私の研究成果と意見は、「The Guardian」「New York Times」「Nikkei Asia」
